Namibia – Wedding in the desert

The relics of the German occupation can be seen at the ‘Alte Feste’ in Windhoek, German colonial troops seized Chief Jan Jonkers’ kraal overlooking Windhoek, and who can blame them for this country in the southwestern corner of Africa is without certainly one of the most colorful. , diverse and fascinating. War and genocide have been the character of the German attempt to create a colonial empire and a legacy of fortresses and castles remains throughout the land.

Driving with my parents in my youth from Cape Town to Windhoek, and then to Etosha is three weeks that I also have left. Stopping at Ais-Ais at Fish River Canyon, Sossusvlei, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and then at Etosha National Park. Where do I begin to tell you that visiting this land of shadows, rivers of sand and dry waters, diamonds, skeletons and mist-haunted coasts with its rock art, crafts and culture, ports, mining towns and creatures of the desert is simply an experience incredible and a land that you simply must discover, explore and enjoy.

Rushing to your honeymoon to be at this destination, consider a wedding in the Dunes, they are fabulously organized venues and service providers that can set up Bedouin tents or tents. Imagine a small sand-colored tent for 20 of your closest loved ones, tables adorned with white cloth, palm leaves swaying in the yellow desert, champagne and good food to go, after your ceremony or blessing.

Please invite me, I’ll be there!

After the wedding you must go to the far north and visit the Etosha National Park the place of mirages or Land of dry water, this large white pan is the remains of a prehistoric inland sea, it is 130km from east to west and travels 72km from the north. to the south. I can still see the flamingos drinking from the sparkling shallow waters in the pan at the time we were there and then had the absolute pleasure of watching the flamingos flight as they rose from the pan on a sheet of pure pink.

There are so many stories to tell and places to visit in Namibia that I am sure the San hunters could have kept us in a trance for days.
