Power For Wrestlers – The ultimate single workout for a wrestling strength and conditioning program!

As a strength and conditioning professional, I have to say that kettlebell training is an ultimate vehicle for success when it comes to the most effective way to train your body for hand-to-hand combat. In the realm of kettlebell training, the overhead snatch is the king of all kettlebell lifts. This unique lift should be at the top of the food chain as your best choice for power training exercises. Keep reading and improve.

The single-arm overhead kettlebell snatch is a very dynamic lift that is great for helping you develop powerful shoulders to take and dish out punishment more than anything else, it builds hip power, core strength, and provides the cardiovascular conditioning of an unstoppable athlete. This lift is performed by lifting a single bell from the ground or between the legs to a held position overhead in a smooth, explosive movement.

This is done by having to initiate a key technique in kettlebell training known as the hip snap. The hip snap is performed by forcefully flexing and then extending the hip and knee joints to vertically pull the kettlebell up to a height and position it laterally to the head. Once the kettlebell is in this position, you should lock your body and pull your arm back to support yourself on the bell. The bell will be literally next to your head at this point and in a weightless position in the air. Once the bell reaches this weightless position, you must strike vertically with your palm toward the sky to complete the lift. As you palm strike, be sure to tuck your shoulder into the socket and lock your elbow to support the load overhead. After trying this lift, your strength and conditioning training will never be the same again.

The overhead snatch is definitely one of the best sports conditioning exercises that you can include in your wrestling training program.
