The greatest murderer of our times, assuming things

Companies all over the world assume that their corporate policies are set in stone somewhere and that everyone knows what they are. It’s not just companies doing this, but people everywhere. I still remember this episode of this old TV series “The Odd Couple”. Felix, in court, says “when you assume you make an ass out of you and me.”

I work for this company part-time where I call subscribers to the newspaper and thank them for subscribing. Normally the company, because I’m on the East Coast, will have me working on the East Coast campaigns. What I hate is that for the last two weeks they have had me working on campaigns on the West Coast. This is okay because I can start later than normal. What I hate though is when they make me work on a West Coast campaign that I don’t finish until almost midnight and then they put me on the East Coast the next day and expect me to start work at 9 am local time. from the East Coast, when I just finished one. on the west coast the night before.

Now, another thing that bothers me is that in most campaigns they give me a list of the newspapers, their phone numbers and their addresses. Friday of last week they had me on this west coast campaign and the contact information for the newspaper was in a completely different area. They assumed that I would still find this company’s information before making any calls. Needless to say, I had to call their support line before I finally figured this out.

When it comes to dial times, they assume that with trial and error I’ll figure out what times are best. They have like over a thousand people working like me. How difficult would it be for them to set up a forum where employees could interact and find out what the best hours are? I don’t have all this spare time where I can do all of this just by trial and error. Do you create a forum? No, they assume that everyone has time to figure it out through trial and error.

Due to my disabilities, I cannot simply accept any job that is offered to me. I am disabled due to this FDA approved medication prescribed by my doctor. After it was discovered that I was killing people, they took me out, but by then the damage was done. Now I have to live with this as a disability. One day my grandchildren will get a good settlement from this company, but because our government does not limit the number of times a company can appeal a settlement, I will never see anything.

I worked for a company that assumed that if I wasn’t working on a given day, I was just lazing around somewhere. What they never bothered to find out was why he was absent. Yes, I was kidding and the ambulance trying to bring me back to consciousness was part of my elaborate plan. It worked didn’t it?

A couple of months ago I helped the lady at the coffee shop where I got her a domain and set her up with a basic site. She told my son that the reason she never calls is because she lost my number. How many cell phones out there do not keep a record of the calls that were received? She has assumed that I will believe that he can’t find my number. With today’s technology, there are so many things we can do now, but a lot of people just make these silly assumptions.

How many men have come forward to get married because they just assume the girl they asked had no choice but to agree? My mom used to make breakfast for me and my brothers every morning, lunch was at noon and dinner at 6 pm When I got married all this changed. There are no set times for meals and most of the time everyone has to prepare something for themselves when they are hungry. If I had assumed that she was like my mom, I would have spent a lot of time at the table sitting there. How many people actually hold their breath waiting for something they assumed was going to happen?
