When I was a kid, my father used to take us on a treasure quest every weekend, searching through boxes at the local flea market, which usually meant that I went back empty-handed. It wasn’t until I discovered oil paintings on canvas that I realized that I could actually find something useful there. So my father taught me how to take canvas pictures and paintings to give to my friends. Since then, whenever my friends came around, I always had a canvas on my table. They were always astounded when I told them that it was actually a canvas; they didn’t know what to say.

Some of my friends thought I was crazy for buying and using a painting on the floor, but once I showed them how simple it was, they started asking me to do it for them. They loved having a canvas to hang on their walls and wanted to know how I did it. After my friends asked me how I painted my canvas, I decided to show them how I painted my first one, which was a portrait of my dog, Chase. As soon as they saw the picture on my canvas, they were fascinated. They couldn’t believe that I made this entire painting on my own, which is why they purchased one for themselves as well.
It’s really a matter of taste as to whether you should do your own oil on canvas beach painting or just get someone else to do it. The only thing that is for certain is that you will love doing it. My canvas had the word ‘Chase’ printed across the front in big red letters. My friend and I used a red, three panel beach pizza picnic table cloth for the background of the painting, and we printed up a huge, fun-kids size print of a Chase the Pizza Guy character. When my friends and I finished painting our canvas, we just sat back and looked at our masterpiece. We were so glad that we decided to take on this project. Our next beach painting activity is already in the works!
