Blackberry Legal Issues Impact PDA Players?

Things are getting a bit more complicated for our Pocket PC relatives.

Research In Motion attempted to lift Blackberry’s injunction pending a Supreme Court appeal, but this request was rejected on Wednesday according to a recently published CBC-based Blackberry news article.

The lower court decision and injunction against US sales remain in effect for the time being.

In keeping with the feature convergence theme song that has been blasting out in the handheld arena, Palm and RIM recently signed a licensing agreement.

In essence, Palm Treo 650 smartphone owners will be able to sync with Blackberry servers and sync their email and calendar options using Blackberry Connect, according to eWeek.com.

If things continue on the line, Blackberry game addicts in the US will have to look elsewhere for their PDA gaming solution.

The PDA gaming corporation like Magmic may have to shift its emphasis from quality Blackberry games. Blackberry 7290 game sales may be driven by other sources, but not in the US.

Inevitably, Treo 650 users will tap into a slice of the Blackberry gaming market as consumers are drawn to higher 320×320 resolution and non-volatile memory.

In short, PDA gamers can be sure that neglecting their smartphone charge is not synonymous with losing the PDA game.

The tentatively titled Treo 700w remains the dark horse of PDA gamers, having eschewed Palm OS in favor of Windows Mobile 5.

The ever-growing list of quality titles like Warfare Incorporated for Pocket PC They are blatantly ignoring the Palm community, as the ports for the goodness of RTS games are not being realized.

Perhaps these Pocket PC game developers know something that we don’t.

I will continue to ponder this as I place my Warfare RTS game units in formation and prepare for the OMNI faction attack.
