Can better health help with my spiritual and psychic development?

I believe that there is much more to psychic development than simply meditation, exercises and practice. I believe there is much more to spiritual growth than crafting your own belief system and whether or not you believe in reincarnation.

I think these things are also completely intertwined with every other part of your life. You need to have a balance between everything. There is little point in developing your psychic side if you are stressed about another area of your life. There are numerous parts of our life that make up the whole; emotional intelligence and our personal relationships, worries and financial security, self-education and personal development, and our health and well-being, among others.

You may not think that our health and fitness have anything to do with our psychic abilities or our spiritual side, but it really does.

If you have ever studied geography, psychology, sociology, or similar social sciences, you will have come across Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. This states that our basic needs must be met before we have the motivation or strength of desire to focus on higher level needs, such as self-actualization, which includes spiritual growth.

Certainly we can still pass on psychic or clairvoyant messages to others if our own lives are not as fulfilling as they could be, I don’t question that. But I believe that our psychic and spiritual journey is more than that, in fact being able to help others is simply a by-product of our own development and growth. So for our own continued development; emotionally, psychically and spiritually, and in order for us to encourage and inspire others to a more spiritual way of thinking, we must take care of ourselves on all levels.

“Keeping the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we will not be able to keep our mind strong and clear”

Buddha

Also, when we work with energy, which is what most psychic and healing work does, we need to make sure that our own energies are strong enough to deal with the challenges it brings primarily through interactions with others. Our auras need to be as healthy and energetic as possible and good health and fitness will help with this.

Healing is often a big part of many people’s spiritual journey and I believe that a healer, or any other energy worker, has much more credibility when they take care of themselves and treat themselves with kindness, with respect, and foster a positive style. of life and mindset that fosters healing within themselves.

I have too much to do with my life to risk less than optimal health!

I’m still buggy and not very fit, but I try to take good care of myself with good nutrition, some exercise, fresh air, relaxation time, and plenty of sleep. I like learning about new ideas to stay fit and healthy, but I avoid fads, they have to be well researched, sensible and doable if I want to try them. I also check my intuition and how my body feels about things. If I’m intuitively drawn to a particular food, supplement, exercise, or something else, then I think my body knows better. Equally, I may not feel anything or feel negative about something, so I guess it’s not for me.

Also, by being in touch with your intuition and being able to connect with your body at this level, you can often get very early warning signs that something is not quite right. This means you can quickly take action to get help and advice. It also facilitates healing, either by self-healing or by another person.

As I write this, I am just starting the 5:2 crash diet, which is not a diet as such, but a way of life that, according to early studies, appears to have some surprising health benefits. I was very intrigued by the concept of fasting when I was first introduced to it some time ago, then I saw the Horizon show, ‘Eat, Fast, Live Longer’ last year hosted by Dr. Michael Mosley and was fascinated. My instinct is that for me it’s something I can safely try and it will benefit me.

Some other things I do to try to take care of myself:

  • I rarely eat convenience food (can’t say never because I’d be lying, I do quite like pizza from time to time), so all my meals are made from scratch with real vegetables, spices and herbs. I can’t remember the last time I ate fast food and I hate a ‘beige’ plate with no colour: it tends to indicate a loss of starchy carbs and too little fresh veggies!
  • I don’t like low fat products, I prefer to have a little less of the more natural full fat version.
  • I cook with oil: rapeseed or coconut and use olive oil sparingly as a salad dressing. The body needs some oil, so I choose what I think are the best types.
  • I drink at least 2 liters of water most days and rarely have pumpkin, juice or soda; again, i will never say, sometimes a coke is definitely required. Likewise, I like an alcoholic drink every now and then, but a couple is enough for me, and most of the time it’s reserved for the weekends.
  • I like to sleep, so I make sure I get enough sleep: a good 8 hours for me, please.

We may be spiritual beings in physical form, but that is no reason why we should bury our physical body in the ground leaving it battered and bruised like an old race car that has been used for racing. When I feel good about myself, fresh, healthy, and revitalized, I can do so much more and work so much better on all levels, including my psychic, healing, and clairvoyant abilities.

What are you doing or about to start to help yourself get well and maintain a healthier body?

In my opinion, we must learn to love and respect our bodies, as they are amazing creative things through which we experience this life. We should load it properly, drive it properly, and maintain it lovingly to make sure it’s fit for the road trip of our lives. Then we can really focus on other elements of our lives, live to the fullest, do all the things we want to do, and become the best possible version of ourselves.
