But while this can be very useful in different kinds of situations, sometimes mishaps can occur while refilling your lighter with lighter fluid and you could end up spilling lighter fluid all over your carpet in your house. It can be quite messy and can be dangerous if you don’t clean it up properly, so you need to take immediate action and clean up this type of carpet spill.

This can be a bit difficult, especially if you really don’t know what to do. To help you out, here are some simple steps you can take to clean up lighter fluid spills on your carpet.

1. First of all, you need to quickly remove any spilled lighter fluid on the carpet. To do this, use a clean sponge or paper towel to soak up the liquid and extract it into an empty bowl or container. Do this until you have removed as much of the spilled liquid on the carpet as possible.

2. Take a cup of clean water and try to dilute the spilled area on the carpet. After one minute of letting the water soak into the spill, take a clean white cloth and blot the area until it is completely dry.

3. You will now need to create a cleaning solution to treat the stain or mark left by the spilled lighter fluid. For this you will need a teaspoon of white vinegar and a cup of warm water. Mix the two together and then pour the solution into a spray bottle. Then continue to the next step.

4. Take a piece of paper towel and blot the area where the spill was continuously. This will help remove the stain from the carpet and transfer it to the paper towel. If you don’t have paper towels handy, you can use a clean white cloth. Do this until the stain is completely removed.

5. Rinse the mat with a cup of clean water to remove any residue that may remain on the mat. Finish the job by drying the area completely with clean rags and you’re done.
