Five golden rules of management

Administrator is defined as a person who administers the affairs of an organization or official body. They are also known as managers and executives. Since most of us work for some organization to earn a living; we are all responsible for the administration. However, administration is never an easy job as it means that people get the job done within the stipulated time. This often means persuasion and also means application of force since most people do not work without force. However, the force creates a reaction that reduces the effectiveness of the administrator. Every leader and manager has to be a good manager as he has to deliver things to the people.

People can become better and more efficient managers by following these five rules.

1. Rule of law

Managers often have to run after people to get the job done. This method can work when there are a small number of people working under the manager. When the number becomes large, managers waste a lot of energy chasing people, leaving no time to plan and do important work. It’s better to actually develop a system based on well-defined rules and laws that clearly set out tasks and criteria for rewards and punishments. In this way, instead of looking for individuals, the administrator has to focus only on the people who will be rewarded or punished.

2. Be fair

Once the rules for management have been clearly laid out, the next step is to implement the rules fairly and fairly. This can pose problems at some point, as even the managers’ favorite people might not be rewarded beyond the rules and might also have to be punished if they break the laws. However, fairness and equality motivate most people to perform objectively and the efficiency of the organization improves automatically.

3. Take decisive action

It’s often not easy to reward people and punish people who don’t comply. Rewards are always questioned and punishments are always hated. However, a good administrator has to take the appropriate measures if he wants to keep the sanctity of the rules. Actions must be selective but tough so that they can have a discovery effect on other people.

4.Comments

One can never visualize all situations, by framing the rules. Rules are tested only when applied to people in real life situations. Therefore, the administrator must continually take feedback on the implementation of the rules. This would allow you to discard rules that have proven ineffective and create new rules that may deliver better results.

5.Use discretion

Often the rules become so exhaustive and inflexible that the organization begins to act like a machine. From then on, they become simple implementers of the rules, forgetting the real purpose for which they were created. The rules should therefore give sufficient discretionary powers to managers so that they can use the rules to achieve the ends of the organization rather than become mere implementers of the rules. The discretionary power can take care of the human element of the administrator.
