HTC Desire C – Affordable Android 4.0 Phone

HTC Desire C is the latest addition to the list of phones running on Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich Android operating system, which aims to increase HTC’s market share in the entry-level segment.

The phone is compatible with GSM 850/900/1800/1900 2G quad-band networks and HSDPA 900/2100 3G dual-band networks. It measures 107.2 x 60.6 x 12.3mm and weighs just 100g. In general, the phone is quite compact and lightweight. The screen consists of a 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen that can display up to 16 million colors and has a resolution of 320 X 480 pixels. Other features include an accelerometer sensor, proximity sensor, and touch sensitive controls.

HTC Desire C uses the latest version of Android Ice Cream Sandwich and the HTC Sense user interface. It is powered by a 600 Mhz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 512 MB of RAM. It has an internal memory of 4 GB that can be increased up to 32 GB by using an external microSD card. A 5-megapixel camera allows users to take images with a resolution of up to 2592 x 1944 pixels and record videos with a resolution of 640 x 480. Some features of the camera include auto focus, geotagging, etc. Users can directly upload photos taken with the camera to popular social networking websites such as Facebook, Google+ from their own phone. On the downside, though, the camera doesn’t have an LED flash, which means you’ll struggle to use it in low-light conditions. Also, there are no sensors like smile and face detection.

Entertainment features include an MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV music player, MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV video player. Pre-installed apps include Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Document Viewer and much more. Users can also download their favorite apps from Google Play. Popular social networking sites are built right into your phone’s interface so you can stay connected with your friends at all times. Messaging options include SMS (threaded view), MMS, email, push email. Users can also access their favorite website on the go using the built-in web browser that supports HTML and Adobe Flash, which means you can watch videos without having to download a separate application. Connectivity options include GPRS, Edge, Bluetooth, Wifi, microUSB.

HTC Desire C is a perfect phone for those who want to get a taste of Android 4.0 without burning a hole in their pocket.
