Idiots Guide to Buying a Sealy Posture Premier

Sealy Posture Premier is the entry level line of the Sealy brand. The internal spring, which is what gives it support, consists of what is called a bonnet coil. This type of innerspring unit is found in all entry level mattresses found at Sealy, Simmons, Serta, SpringAir, King Koil and most private label (no name) manufacturers.

What kind of customer should buy a Sealy Posture Premier?

This Sealy tier was made for the customer who needs a bed for a guest room or small child. Those who usually buy the Premiere level for their master bedroom are on a very tight budget, plan to use the bed for a few years, and are of average height and weight (Look at a Sealy if you need a more supportive long-term mattress). Those in the 300 lbs and over category are in for a nasty surprise when they get a Posture Premier delivered to their house; the inner spring is not designed for that amount of pressure.

Despite what the mattress salesperson may tell you, Sealy only offers a 3-year warranty on the Premier level (the offer for this level is 10 years). There are companies on the internet that claim that their Posture Premier normally sells for $2999 on a queen set, but they have it for sale for $399. Beware of this type of misleading advertising, as the daily average price on the industry is in the range of $399 to $699 (depending on model).

One of the other key features you get in a Posturepedic but not a Posture Premier is the foam-encased edge support. What this means is that when you sit on the side of the mattress, it doesn’t feel as sturdy as a Posturepedic. You can usually feel the coils on the side of a mattress that isn’t encased in foam.

Sealy Posture Premier is an excellent choice for those who need a bed for a guest room, child’s room, or master bedroom on short notice.
