Acer Iconia Tablet #1 – A100
If you’re looking for a smaller tablet that maximizes portability, then the Asus Iconia a100 may be the tablet you’ve been looking for. This tablet features a 7″ HD (1024 x 600) touchscreen display with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor. The Acer Iconia a100 also features one of the latest Android Honeycomb operating systems. The CPU allows for a good gaming experience. and up to 4.5 hours of use without recharging.
Acer Iconia Tablet #2 – A500
This tablet is another great option particularly in the price and feature areas. This tablet is reasonably priced (cheaper than iPad and MOTOROLA XOOM) with many features that make for a good tablet experience. The a500 is very similar to the a100 but features a 10.1″ HD display with a wider viewing angle.

First, the w500 does not run on the Android Honeycomb operating system. Also, this tablet features an expandable dock which is becoming a priority in some of the best tablets on the market. This feature allows the user to use the tablet as a netbook at home, and still a tablet on the go.
No tablet is perfect:
While each tablet is unique and can provide a fantastic user experience, there are always issues to be aware of with any tablet. For the Acer Iconia a100, users don’t like the small amount of viewing angle. Also, battery life isn’t great for a 7″ tablet and if you’re focusing on finding a tablet that’s easy to travel with, you might not like the a100.
While the a500 has a good overall experience, it has typical Android Wi-Fi issues that seem weak compared to other media devices. You may find this tablet to be extremely similar to the competitor’s MOTOROLA XOOM; however, the XOOM is more expensive but has been around longer.
While many would consider the w500’s Windows 7 operating system to be a pro, it could also be seen as a rip-off for the tablet. Windows 7 was not created to be used as a touch screen operating system and this shows as the user experience is reduced. Also, the dock that was designed for the Acer Iconia w500 seems to cause some users frustration. While the idea of the dock is great, if you’re just looking for a tablet that offers this accessory, we’d recommend taking a look at the Asus Transformer Prime.
