Physical Mediumship, Planchette and Transformations

There are many different types of mediumship that a person can experience. In this article we will give a brief summary of the different types of mediumship and some tips.

writing mediumship
Writing mediumship is when a person’s hand comes under the control of a spirit. The spirit will typically write a message to someone in the room or answer questions. Writing mediumship is also sometimes called automatic writing. When this type of mediumship occurs, the medium will usually go into a light to heavy trance. The medium’s arm will go numb and at this time the spirit is ready to start writing. If writing mediumship is new to the medium, it may be difficult at first to read the writing. Over time, with spirit and medium working together, the writing will become clear and legible. When asking questions of a spirit, you do not need to ask the question verbally, but can instead write the question on a piece of paper and place it in the medium’s hand. Writing mediumship is considered one of the most difficult forms of mediumship. It is possible to practice writing mediumship by yourself. All you need to do is put yourself in a relaxed and clear frame of mind and have a pencil and paper ready to write. A computer keyboard can also be used to type mediumship. You can then ask a question or ask for a sign of the spirit’s presence. It is unlikely that you will get results on the first try, but there is always that possibility.

drawing mediumship
Drawing mediumship is very similar to writing mediumship except that a picture is drawn instead of words on a piece of paper. A person can use many different tools to draw, including pencils, crayons, paints, or whatever he wants. Even if the medium has no artistic ability, he may be surprised to find that the spirit is drawing wonderful things through him. The mediumship of crude drawing has limitations regarding the possibilities of communication, for which the mediumship of writing is usually preferred.

planchette
Planchette is a form of writing medium where a small board on wheels is used. A pencil is placed on the board and the mediums’ hands rest lightly on either side of the board. When a person first starts using a planchette, the planchette will first move slowly. This is the spirit learning to work through the body of the medium. As time and experience develop, the planchette can move very quickly. Once the person and the spirit get used to writing on the planchette, questions can be asked. As in all forms of mediumship, the medium may find this to be very easy or the planchette may be a form of mediumship that will require practice.

healing mediumship
Some people are prone to the art of healing and may be attracted to this form of mediumship. If this is the case, the spirit will usually guide the medium’s hands over the proper area to be healed and do the necessary work. When practicing healing mediumship, the medium should focus their thoughts on the health and vitality of the individual to be healed.

The mediumship of materialization.
Materialization mediumship is where a spirit can draw enough energy from the medium to actually appear in a body as a ghost. This is a very rare and uncommon form of mediumship that requires a highly skilled medium. Usually the spirit will take on the appearance of what they had in earth life. When the spirit first begins to appear, it may appear as balls of light or clusters of fireflies. As materialization continues, the body will form and may not have arms or legs. With practice, the body will soon appear and be recognizable as the person it was in earth life.

Writing mediumship on blackboard
Slate writing mediumship is where a small slate is used. The blackboard is placed on the table together with the chalk in front of the medium. The blackboard and chalk are never touched by the medium or anyone else in the room. Chalk and blackboard can even be locked away in a box to make sure no one tampered with it. The spirit will resort to the energy of the medium to carry out the writing. When doing blackboard writing mediumship, it is best to have the surface you are going to write on face down on the table. A question should be written on a piece of paper and placed on the board. Surprisingly, this is one of the easiest forms of mediumship.

Transformation of mediumship
Transfiguration mediumship is when a medium enters a light or deep trance state. When in this state and after having been contacted by a spirit, the medium’s face takes on the characteristics of the spirit’s face when he was alive. In this transfiguration mediumship, the medium may even adopt the gestures and vocal qualities of the dead person. This is the spirit that temporarily occupies the body of the medium, which causes this type of transfiguration of mediumship.
