The essence of an orgy: what it means

Introduction

Orgy is a word that most men dream of. It is usually defined as a binge followed by riotous cohabitation between 3 or more people. Men will always fantasize about an orgy with women. Orgy is an old word and is derived from the Latin word Orgia. Therefore, it can be concluded that the word, being so old, is something that must have been around for many centuries. It can be said that orgies were part of ancient rituals, sometimes they served a definite purpose such as appeasing the god of time for rain or the fertility of women, it was also a form of revelry and was a celebration of an event such as the arrival of spring.

The orgy had a definite place in pagan culture and was expected, but in the West. the advent of Christianity made an orgy an ‘evil’ act and a semblance of puritanism was insinuated. But in the East, in particular. an orgy continued to have a place. He was given a cover of a method to achieve nirvana. This is the essence of Tantra and the last exponent of the orgy with all its delicacy was Acharya Rajneesh.

essence of an orgy

The word orgy as such does not exist in Hinduism, but the act itself is hallowed by the scriptures. The orgy is practiced by the Shaivites who are worshipers of the god Kaal Bhairov, who is the stern manifestation of Lord Shiva, the main Hindu deity who is part of the supreme manifestation trilogy of power in Hinduism.

Tantra in Hinduism never uses the word orgy. However. The Aghori practice something like an orgy when they fornicate with mantras and chants in the middle of the night. There is a subtle difference to the old pagan ways of an orgy and alcohol is generally avoided. Although an orgy specifically includes a drunken revelry

Speaking from personal experience, I can say that it was not what I thought it would be. Fantasizing about it is one thing, but having practical experience is another. During one of my visits to the former Soviet Union, my young friend suggested an orgy with some of her friends. I accepted more out of curiosity than anything else.

The orgy was in a large room with a wet bar at one end. We were the six of us and I was the only Indian. I will say that it lasted until the early hours of the morning, but I somehow slept through it. I found orgies more part of the fantasy than any benefit in real life.

However, an episode at Acharya Rajneesh’s ashram was a completely different experience. There was no wine or alcohol, but it started as a meditative exercise and gradually turned into wild acts between men and women. In fact, the way it happened was perhaps one of the most uplifting things in my life. But a combination of circumstances made me abandon further experiments at the ashram. My CO became aware of my trespassing into the Ashram and as service members of the armed forces are prohibited from joining said ashram or activity, he expressly prohibited me from doing so and also warned me that further such trespassing would result in disciplinary action. That was all, but I can say that Acharya Rajneesh certainly had something to offer in his meditation sessions. Not to be confused with sensual pleasures, but rather a deep philosophy that Rajneesh took directly from ancient Hindu principles.

Last word

Orgy has been a part of the human race since time immemorial. It certainly had a sexual connotation, but rituals were devised that gave religious cover to such acts of revelry. Unbeknownst to the participants at the time, there was a release of tremendous energy and that in most cases affected everyday life. I can’t say, but I think maybe cosmic laws also affected. According to tantra, in all such acts there is a tremendous release of energy, and if it is channeled, one can achieve wonders. I was once a member of Swami Shraddanand’s ashram, but never participated in his rituals that included tantric acts and cohabitation with women. But the participants mentioned that they were able to see their past births during the acts. Was it a hallucination? I don’t think so if you believe in rebirth like Hinduism does.

Where is the orgy in the modern world? It is there, but it is mostly secret, since such acts cannot be publicly approved. Hindu philosophy is different, but it does not advocate mass forms of cohabitation and says that such acts are only for a few who believe and want to achieve nirvana. But an orgy from time to time can be an excellent release of emotions, but prejudices and puritanical thoughts will have to be left behind.
