The Mahindra Thar has a new suit

The legendary Mahindra Thar has been recently upgraded with the addition of a number of impressive features.

The Mahindra Thar is already known for its appeal as a more affordable off-road vehicle for adventure-seeking drivers on a slightly smaller budget. The Mahindra Thar, launched in 2010, left room for improvement, especially when it came to its layout and interior design.

The new Mahindra Thar boasts the most welcome upgrades, inside and out. The interior is now outfitted with sleeker and more supportive seats, steering wheel, gear stick, door trims and air conditioning vents. It also sports a contemporary floor console (with ample cup holders), a secure (lockable) glove box, a great two-tone dash, and a tri-module instrument cluster (with speedometer, fuel and temperature gauges, tachometer and a digital tripmeter and indicates when 4WD is used). Plus, there are decent tech features like a 12-volt charging cradle and windshield defogger. The finish and interior quality have also been significantly improved.

Thar’s exterior has been restyled with a more exciting and modern appeal with features such as upgraded wheel arches, front and rear bumpers, upgraded running boards, clear lens headlamps and reshaped hood. The overall look of the Thar is more aggressive and it is available in five color variations, whereas previously it was only available in red.

Added features; like the rear differential lock has further improved its off-road proficiency. The Mahindra Thar is more than capable of effortlessly handling almost any territory. It produces enough torque to carry you up steep inclines and out of muddy or muddy situations with considerable ease. The Thar prevents wheelspin and binding with the added support of mechanical differential locks and 235/70/R16 tubeless tires. The Thar offers a 44° approach angle, a 27° departure angle and a wonderful 60 liter fuel tank.

The Thar is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox and BorgWarner transfer case. The engine remains a 2,498 cc CRDe, offering 247 Nm of torque at 1,800-2,000 rpm and 105 bhp at 3,800 rpm. In addition, the Thar has a ground clearance of 200mm and a wheelbase of 2430mm. The brake system includes 226mm front brake discs and 282 rear brake drums.

The new Mahindra Thar is ideal for off-road adventures, family picnics and regular getaways, while remaining exceptional and attractive in urban settings. It’s a more complete 4X4, with a degree of ‘creature comfort’ and great new features.
