What do you need:

  • 1 1/4 roast beef
  • 3 carrots, chopped
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 can of chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 4 beef bouillon cubes
  • 4 cups of water
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1/2 cup barley
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 tablespoon of white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, plus more to taste
  • Salt to taste

Cook the roast beef in a slow cooker for 4 to 5 hours on high, adding bay leaves and barley for the last hour. When the meat is done and tender, cut it into small pieces. Remove the bay leaf and reserve the meat, broth and barley. In a large pot over medium high heat, heat the oil, then cook the carrots, celery, onion, and mixed greens until tender. Add tomatoes, beef bouillon cubes, water, sugar, 1/4 black pepper, and beef mixture. Bring to a boil, lower the heat, and then simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper if necessary.

  • 8 hoagie rolls, warm
  • 1 1/4 kilogram of roast beef
  • 1 jar of pepperoncini
  • 16 slices of provolone cheese
  • 4 garlic cloves, sliced

Carefully make small cuts in the meat and place slices of garlic inside the cuts. Place the roast in a slow cooker, and then spoon the entire contents of the pepperoncini jar over the meat (including the liquid). Cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours on low heat.   • 5 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Make a few deep cuts in the top of a roast with a knife, then push the garlic inside. Place the meat in a slow cooker and pour the coffee over it. Cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours on low heat. When done, heat the juices in a skillet over medium low heat. Combine the water and cornstarch in a bowl, then add the mixture to the pan. Cook over low heat until thick.
