Given any opportunity to ride or talk, the FJ Cruiser Trail teams will do it in a second. Whether it’s crawling off the edge of a cliff, running through a muddy swamp, or even hitting desert sand dunes. If trail crews can find a trail to hike or a hill to climb, they’ll be there.
Due to popular demand, the Teams have decided to create their own events: Invitationals and Expeditions.
The Invitationals have provided a unique opportunity for ordinary people to bring their own trail-ready Toyotas and join the Toyota Trail Teams on all kinds of off-road rides. Even those who don’t own a Toyota are invited to come and drive Teams’ original and modified Toyota’s. In May, more than 220 Toyota owners attacked the jagged San Bernadino mountain range at the first Toyota Trail Teams Invitational in Big Bear. In July, another 200 or more took to the Badlands Off Road Park in Attica, Indiana, to get away with some of the most challenging muddy trails ever seen. The off-road action at the Second Trail Teams Invitational was insane and the next invite should be no different.
Invitationals are great off-road parties, but Trail Teams Expeditions give Toyota FJ Cruiser drivers a more intimate and remote kind of hot drive. Usually 8 or more US-rigged Toyotas are selected for three- or four-day adventures. The first East Coast Toyota Expedition recently completed its journey along the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Making their way through sand and swamp, these adventurers experienced nature and the wheel in a way that few will. It was an incredible runtime for everyone involved.
If you are interested in joining a team, there are three teams to choose from: the East Coast, the Central Coast, and the West Coast; They all tour the country in their Tacomas, FJ Cruisers and Tundras, joining other Toyota 4×4 enthusiasts from their favorite place to hang out online, the FJ Cruiser Forum. Trail gear is for guys with mud in their veins, it’s worth it to spend your days hanging out and rolling with other dedicated off-roaders.
