THREE examples of how to use the PS in a cover letter

PS I will follow up with a phone call on September 15th to confirm that you have received my application. I would love the opportunity to meet in person for an interview. You can reach me immediately at 555-555-5555. Thanks in advance.

PS: May I have the opportunity to be interviewed for the [insert job opening title here]? I would love to meet you and talk about what I can bring to your company. Again, I can be reached directly at 555-555-5555 to schedule an interview as soon as possible. Thank you!

Who could ignore the power of such PS? In each of the examples above, the job applicant clearly and directly ASKED for the job interview and stated what action they would like the reader to take. He can also use the PS to reaffirm why she believes he is a prime candidate for the position.

Tips for using the PD (postscript): Place the PD at the bottom left of your cover letter. To make it stand out, use bold or italic text. Don’t use both.

PS Keep in mind that people are trained to read a PD, so be sure to include one in your next cover letter.

PPS One more thing please! Keep this ‘secret’ to yourself. Thank you and good luck!
