How to simplify your moving day

Finally the day comes and you are going to move to a new house. Either you get married or you move to a new city or you just bought your dream house and you will finally settle in it. Many reasons but only one fact, you are moving and there are a million things on your mind that you want to do. Relax, take your time to read the tips we offer to simplify and organize your moving day.

When you’re ready to pack, estimate how much the boxes will cost and how many you’ll need. What kinds of things should go in what kinds of boxes? For this reason, a small box should contain books, but a large box should contain lighter things, such as clothes. Will you need to cover furniture with special wrapping, and how will you carefully pack computers, small appliances, and breakables?

You or someone you trust must be available when the move is underway. You should monitor and double check, and be present for questions that the movers are bound to have.

First… Sell everything you can
Don’t hold on to all your stored clothes, books, old records, etc. just because you might need them someday. Instead, sell or give away all your old stuff you no longer use before you move into a new home for charity.

1- After you have thoroughly cleaned and dried the inside of your refrigerator, put a handful of fresh coffee or baking soda in a sock or nylon stocking and place inside to keep the interior smelling fresh.
2- Pack heavy items in small boxes, light items in larger boxes.
3- Don’t forget to pack your current phone book to take with you. You may need to make calls to residents or businesses in your old hometown.
4- Before the truck foreman leaves for your new home. Give them a phone number where you can be reached. It’s also a good idea to provide them with an alternate contact in case they can’t reach you.
5- Place the paintings in boxes between sheets and blankets to give them greater protection.
