Shimano Spinning Rods – 2009 Guide

Shimano spinning rods are undoubtedly among the best in the world and set trends in the fishing tackle industry. In the company of sport fishermen used as consultants, they are developing new and innovative products for new and exciting ways of fishing. Regardless of the wishes or the thickness of the wallet, you will find a shimano spinning rod to suit your needs.

Here’s a quick presentation of the 2009 shimanos spinning / casting rods:

Aspire BX Spinning

How to improve a cane that was considered a milestone in cane production? It wasn’t easy, but Shimano is used to challenges. First, Biofibre was used in the shaft material to provide low weight and extreme strength. Fuji developed new sizes of Low Rider rod rings, and with a Power Cork handle and Fossil Wood insert on the reel attachment, the series was a masterpiece. A lightweight, strong, beautiful and extremely long casting rod that sport anglers of any skill level would place at the top of their wish list. It exists in 4 models and comes with a rod sheath and a rod tube with leather details.

Antares BX Spinning

Improved model of Antares Spinning, now with new materials and elegant aesthetic changes. The carbon material is replaced by the increasingly exclusive XT-200 Carbon, which in addition to Biofibre has made the adhesions even more durable and lightweight. In addition, Antares BX Spinning will from now on be equipped with Fossil Wood in the reel accessory and in other details it will have Power Cork and Aero Guide Concept handles with Fuji rod rings. The series has, of course, a micro-adjustable reel attachment, exclusive rod covers and transport tube. Antares BX Spinning comes in 6 models from 7 to 11 feet, all divided into 2 parts.

Diaflash XT-A Spinning

Diaflash XT-A is a complete and innovative series of rods from Shimano, loaded with new details. These are extremely exciting rods, where the Vibralock construction places moderate unwanted vibrations on the rod materials during casting and fish work. The construction is of the Shadow Diaflash type with the use of XT-200 graphite, biofiber as materials, TI-Lite rings and Fossil Wood reel accessory. The lower handle is covered in leather, Power Leather, and additionally there are weights for individual adaptation of the balance of the reeds. The series exists in 11 models, is 3-part (210ML is 2-part) and comes with rod covers and rod tube.

Diaflash ST-A Spinning

Diaflash ST-A is a favorable price alternative within the Diaflash concept. Shimano is here using XT-100 graphite and has made it as a 2 part build. The series has TI-lite rings, biofiber, cork handles, Dyne Butt and the possibility of balancing the rod with weights (extras). Diaflash ST-A exists in 9 models and is delivered with a rod cover.

Spinning Aerocast

Shimano has a good tradition of leading development with changing standards and unwritten laws within the design and production of fishing tackle. Here it is, the new Aerocast Spinning rod series developed. None had been able to produce a rotating rod with oval rod materials, until now. The slightly oval material of the rod gives the possibility of changes of action during the casting and the work of the fish, this is done by turning the rod in relation to the pressure direction. Therefore, you have two different actions on the same rod, something that should be the dream of any sport fisherman.

In this series Shimano uses XT-200 Carbon plus Biofibre that settled elastic actions combined with little weight. The design is generally minimalist and exclusive, with details such as Power Cork, micro-adjustable reel hitch with Fossil Wood insert and Aero Guide Concept with Fuji Alconite guides. The series has 3 parts and is therefore well suited to what many sport anglers feel is optimal (7 feet is 2 parts). Aerocast Spinning is in 7 models from 7 to 10 feet, the rod cover and carry tube are included of course.

Speedmaster AX Spinning

New and improved version of the bestseller Speedmaster Spinning, which is still a complete single series with no compromises. These are fast actions combined with brute force, where the specific gravity of the rods remains surprisingly low. What’s new are TI-lite rings, XT-100 graphite combined with Biofibre, Shadow Diaflash technology, and the Fuji IPS reel attachment. Power Cork spigot handles and joints. Speedmaster AX Spinning has 2 parts and is delivered with rod covers / transport tubes. Exists in 9 models from 6 to 11 feet.

Technium DF BX Spinning

Improved Technium DF spinning model, now with lower weight, new materials and cosmetic improvements. This is still the widest series of rods, all with thin sticks combined with a delicious design. The firm Df with Technium represents the DIAFLASH construction. This renowned production of Shimano rods is one of the strongest on the market and can be used in the most demanding situations.

TechniumDF BX is fitted with superlight Hardlite Shimanos reed hoops, but has as of now been changed to a setup according to the Aero Guide concept. The material in the core has been updated to XT-100 Carbon and Biofibre, therefore it is lighter and has even more distinct actions than before. Additionally, the series has received a new ergonomic reel attachment and Power Cork. The rotary version of the Technium DF BX exists in 12 versions, from the lightest freshwater fishing to heavy salmon fishing. The series generally has 2 parts, but all Salmon Rods (SL) have 3 parts.

Beatmaster BX Spinning / Casting

These rods have been one of the biggest bestsellers in all of Shimano’s history. The BeastMaster concept was something of a revolution and it swept the market. One of the limitations of the original material was the weight. It was slightly taller than ordinary graphite, but much stronger in rewards. With the introduction of Biofibre, the AX model exceeded this limit, the rods became extremely light and fast, but still with the incredible strength of the previous model. In addition, the materials of the reeds were thinner and the action more determined. Now the third generation is finally ready; Beastmaster BX.

The most striking change is the new Vibra Spot reel attachment, where direct contact with the rod material is achieved. In addition, there is the possibility of balancing the rod with Shimano Balance Weight. This series of Shimano spinning rods also has Shimano SIC SS hoops, XT-60 graphite with Biofibre and cork handles. It is delivered with reed cover and now exists in a total of 14 spinning models and 6 casting models.

Nexave BX Spinning

Rods developed in cooperation with the production section at Elbe Normark. All the rods are divided into 3 parts for easy transport, have reinforced joints and actions perfectly suitable for fishing for trout, sea trout and light salmon. They exist in 7 lengths from 7 to 16 feet, where the 16 ‘comes with the Slide’n Grip reel attachment.

ForceMaster Spinning

Rods with fine blanks and rings of light combined with a delightful design. Many cheap rods with poor quality dominate the lower price segments. Shimano has long studied how to produce a relatively inexpensive rod that has the expected characteristics of a good fishing rod, without costing too much. The answer has come and it’s called Force Master. We believe that it will be difficult or almost impossible to find better rods on the market in the same price range. The new “Master” technology with the new “Fine Crystal Carbon” fibers allows to produce better reeds without increasing the price. The series features are light and strong, and who said cheap rods necessarily have to be boring?

Catana BX Spinning

Catana BX consists of 7 models and offers a good selection of rods for many fishing situations, from ultralight freshwater fishing to sea fishing and salmon. The rod material is made from a mix of XT-30 and XT-40 Carbon. This provides fast and responsive rods with hidden forces that easily tame wild fish. They are equipped with a newly developed Shimano reel attachment that, so to speak, slips into the hand while fishing. Ceramic rod rings installed after the Shimanos Aero Guide system provide long controlled casts

Relief BX Spinning

Enhanced version of the Alivio series, with a powerful expansion of the model selection. Now Alivio BX is presented as a complete series ranging from the lightest freshwater fishery to the salmon and sea trout fishery. Please note that this inexpensive series is from now on equipped with a Vibra Spot reel attachment. Other features are XT30 / XT40 graphite, Shimano HL SS rod rings, and cork handles. It comes in 17 models from 6 ‘to 11’.

X-PTA AX Spinning

Series of rods produced in AeroGlass with Power Tip for maximum resistance. The use of AeroGlass in the rod material provides the strength of traditional fiberglass, but with much less weight. These are rods for intense and heavy fishing of sea fish, salmon and pike. Delivered in 5 models from 8 ‘to 10’. All the reeds have cork handles and a very affordable price.

XAX spinning

Economical series in good Shimano quality. Typical “workhorses” built in AeroGlass. It comes in 2 cast versions and for use on bait casting reels or spinning casting reels. Truly a series of reeds that gives you all the credit for your money. 5 models from 7 ‘to 10’.

XFX BX Spinning

XFX is still Shimano’s cheapest rod alternative. The XFX series has plenty of fans with their good cast characteristics and durability at a price that everyone can live with, regardless of the thickness of the wallet. This year the rods come with a new design, they still have EVA handles and are delivered in 5 models from 6 ‘to 9’.

Hope you have some clues in choosing the right shimano spinning rods for your fishing adventures.
