What makes tablets ideal for professionals?

Tablet devices like the Apple iPad 2, Motorola Xoom and more are becoming much more popular with casual users who like to use their tablets to surf the web, play games and watch videos. However, there are also a growing number of businesses that are starting to use tablets, and there are several reasons why tablets are becoming a huge hit with business owners and employees.

Use of tablet devices for presentations

It is now becoming commonplace to see someone reading a prepared speech from a tablet. More people are now starting to connect their tablets to a projector screen to show their business or academic presentations. Tablets are ideal for this use, and businesses of all kinds are embracing them.

The benefit of using a tablet for a presentation means being able to use the best apps to work on your presentation no matter if you’re at work, home, or on the go. Then, when you’re ready to start your presentation, you don’t need to rely on on-site computers (which can sometimes be a gamble in my experience) and you won’t have to bother with transferring files, writing to disk, etc. Simply connect your tablet to the projector screen and you’re good to go!

If you consider using your tablet as a prompter, it won’t get in the way of your speech since (unlike a laptop) your tablet will lie completely flat. They don’t obscure your face, making it much easier to maintain eye contact with your audience.

Taking notes

When you attend meetings or presentations, a tablet can be perfect for taking notes. Wondering if anything could really be easier or better than a notepad and pen? Yes you can!

There are a variety of reasons for this statement, but the main one for me is that you can easily enter your notes on your tablet with a stylus in your normal handwriting, which is as fast as a pen and paper, but after you store the note, you can index and search by text directly from your tablet. That’s something you simply can’t do with pen and paper, even with the most sophisticated filing system in the world!

Aside from these benefits, tablets are very small and take up much less space on your desk, in your bag or briefcase, or in your hands. It’s so easy to just grab your tablet and get going, and you no longer need to worry about lugging around pens and notebooks or a heavy laptop.

Stay connected on the go

Lots of business people travel a lot, and a tablet means you can turn that travel time into productive work hours. You can connect with colleagues over the wireless Internet and use some of the many office and productivity applications that are available to continue working on your projects. You can also send and receive data between colleagues and your central business databases.

Tablet devices are for so much more than just watching movies and browsing the web! Every day, many companies join the tablet revolution as a way to improve the efficiency of their processes and projects and get more done with less equipment and outlay.
