What style do you box?

Each boxer has different combinations, punches, and moves, but they fight in a specific way. This is his style. There are a few different types of boxing styles. Each of them is very different, but they are not completely different, as one type of boxing may have some similarity to another person’s style. There are 3 generally known types of boxing styles. The “Inner Fighter”, the “Hitter” and the “Boxer”

The Boxer – This guy is usually referred to as a “text” book fighter. This fighter is very skilled in the art of attack and defense. He does most of his fighting usually from the outside, coming in for a few punches, then backing back again. This boxer may not be the most exciting or interesting boxer to watch if he’s looking for fast, steady action, but he has top-notch technical skills and is ideal for someone who wants to start boxing.

He can go well against sluggers because he’s quicker and more agile in the ring. Some of the best known boxers with this style are Felix Trinidad, Roy Jones Jr., Winky Wright, Muhammad Ali, Benny Leonard, Sugar Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis, and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The Slugger: This guy may not possess as many technical skills as the boxer, but aggression and strength are his main weapons. A slugger is the most interesting and entertaining to watch. Another name by which he is known is the “brawler”. He lacks the intricacies in the ring but he makes up for it, because you can’t predict what he’ll do, plus he can dish out powerful punches that often result in a knockout. This is why Manny Pacquiao is one of the most popular boxers of the modern era. Some of the better known sluggers are Arturo Gatti, George Foreman, Naseem Hamed and Sonny Liston.

The inside fighter is also not as technical in the ring as the boxer, but he generates a lot of excitement. The inner fighter spends most of his time getting close to his opponent and landing heavy hook and uppercut punches.

He may take a few hits along the way, but the inner fighter has a powerful chin that can protect him from any potential injury. Some of the best known inside fighters are Joe Frazer, Mike Tyson, Julio Margarito, Ricky Hatton, Julio Cesar Chaves, and Marco Antonio Barrera.

There are also two other boxer styles worth mentioning: hybrid boxer and crowder.

Some boxers can fall into more than one style classification, this is where the hybrid boxer comes into play. For example, someone like Naseem Hamed is considered a slugger, but his finesse and quickness to move around the ring also make him a standout fighter. The very famous Mike Tyson also goes into the fighting style, but at the same time he is a very tough inner fighter.

The name of public is not due to his ability to give the crowd what they want to see, but his ability to put pressure on the other fighter in the ring. Another name for crowder is also “swarmer”, this type of boxer puts systematic pressure on his opponent with never-ceasing attacks and aggressive force. Crowders are an unusual type of boxer in that not many people have great stamina and can continuously attack another fighter throughout the game.

A boxer cannot be the crowd during the fight. Take, for example, Manny Pacquiao, who is considered a slugger but became a crowd in his fight against Manny Pacquiao. Henry Armstrong, Joe Frazer and Ricky Hatton are popular fans.
