Moving to the city of Perth, Western Australia

Perth’s central business district lies on the banks of the Swan River to the south and east; with Kings Park to the west and Northbridge to the-that’s to the right-north. The area has excellent shopping and cultural opportunities. The famous Hay and Murray St shopping malls, the State Museum, Library and Art Gallery are all within a few blocks of each other. You’ll find several parks, two cricket grounds and the WA Jogging Grounds, as well as the corporate headquarters of some of the largest employers in the state. Get a job in Perth CBD and you can have it all: an office in a stunning modern skyscraper; relaxing river views and, if you’re lucky, a corporate box at the cricket.

The mining boom has spurred a great deal of construction and development in the Perth CBD. More spending and redevelopment, to the tune of $68 million, will take place over the next few years based on the City’s latest plan. In particular, the council has budgeted for the improvement of St George Terrace, Perth’s main shopping street. Plans are also underway to improve street level access from the CBD to Northbridge, blocked for 100 years by the rail system.

The CBD is home to the offices of many Western Australian mining, oil and offshore exploration companies: Chevron, Shell, Woodside Petroleum, BHP Billiton to name just a few. If you’re looking for a job in the energy field, try Brunel Energy Party Ltd, a specialist recruiting company. Perth CBD also offers many opportunities for immigrants who want to work in IT: Fujitsu has recently opened a large data center in Perth, providing IT services to the banking sector. All of Australia’s major banks have offices in the Perth CBD, and job seekers will also find a range of HR, PR, legal and accounting opportunities.
